Awsome views good drinks and it seems that tbe food is way better than it used to be
In my short visits some years ago, Johnny B's was my stop for breakfast. Oasis Cafe is the relocated Johnny B's, still serves my favorite, the Trash Can Burrito.
Holy cow! Loved the breakfast burritos...we started to get them to go, but decided to hang out there to eat after giving our order, as we sat there at the bar stools where we ordered... this place was a laid back place to chill before hitting the road back to Austin.
Some decent grub but not if you're in a rush. My travel companion and I found ourselves in Marathon at lunchtime after leaving Big Bend. The waitress was not very friendly or attentive. She just plopped down 2 menus without asking what we wanted to drink. She didn't bother to refill our drinks until we flagged her down and asked. We both ordered from the Mexican section of the menu. I ordered cheese enchiladas. I'm pretty sure that the menu said it came with rice and beans, but when it eventually showed up, about 40 minutes after ordering, there were 3 enchiladas with refried beans, shredded lettuce, and diced tomato. Not a problem, but unexpected. Chips and salsa, if desired, must be ordered separately. It turned out to be a good idea since it took so long for the entrees to come out. My friend had virtually the same plate I had, but with an egg on top (I don't recall what they named it). The food was good, but service was not, and the food took a long time to arrive. Our visit was about 1 hour 20 minutes. Too long for travelers.
Quaint, small town Cafe with only about 8-10 tables (additional seating outside). Menu is extensive for breakfast, offering a variety of Tex-Mex choices and classic breakfast items. Lunch menu offers more Tex-Mex items, also burgers, hot and cold sandwiches and even salads. We ate here on a Sunday. If they are busy, be prepared to wait as there was one server and one cook. Super friendly and helpful staff!! So glad we stopped and ate locally!
Also serve good chef's salad, and a nachos dish called Cincos (for the 5 toppings). Good breakfast menu (until 11am), and lunch menu with burgers, burritos, salads.
